README.ICO
=======================================================================

I converted the TIFF icons to the appropriate format and I put them in
separate files. You can use the Program Manager to select any icon
from those in this directory.

I made two versions of each original icon: the first version is
identical to the original; in the second version, I modified the
"outside" background to assume the color of the workspace; to see
what I mean, use a non-white background color and you will see the
difference. These files have the suffix *1.ico and *2.ico accordingly.

The coloured icons in the PixMap format are converted into Windows
BitMap format (using the tool xpm2bmp).
Finally I put the colour icons in the files *3.ico and *4.ico.
As above mentioned I've contributed two different versions.
There are cases where it is more convenient to use the icons directly
instead of the DLLs (if for example you want only a few icons).

Also included are some tiny C programs and related files used to
make the DLLs.

I also made three minor changes in the bitmap colors: the tex-s and
latex-s icons used black letters on a blue background (at least that's
what is displayed under windows), which is quite hard to read. I changed
the background to light-blue which is more readable. Similarly, the dvi
icon uses a brown lion outline on a black background; the problem is that
the outline has a width of one pixel and the lion is barely recognizable
because of the lack of contrast. I changed it to a yellow outline.
